Lean Leader – Mark Center

Date/Time: November 4 2019 - November 8 2019

Location: Mark Center

Lean Training is a one-week course where the student learns about A3s and the 8-step problem solving technique.  This technique is a systematic approach to reviewing processes that are not complicated, but need some analysis of the root cause of the issues.  Lean projects should be small in scope and should not take more than a few weeks to execute.  Some great examples are seen in 5S projects for supply areas; process flow for signatures on documents; and reducing errors during handoffs between organizations or sections within an organization.  Lean Leaders are people throughout the organization that, once trained, will have the skills to identify ways to improve the environment around them.  Having Lean Leaders through the organization brings about change faster and helps with buy-in from all of the staff.

This course is a certification course.  The students will be required to have a project to work on for certification.  After the course is completed and they pass the test, the students will work with a mentor to help them complete their projects.  Upon completion of their projects the students will receive a certification in Lean from the Department of Defense.
